Admission and Application Procedures for International Students.

You are considered to be an international applicant if you are living outside of Canada or in Canada and are not; a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Persons.

International students are responsible for all of their visa/study permit, travel, health insurance, accommodation and financial arrangements.

The Government of Alberta website will help you research your options and help you plan for your education in Canada.

English Language Proficiency

English is the language of instruction at Portage College. To be successful in a program students must have a level of English that will allow them to participate in all aspects of the program.

Health Care

International students must have basic health care coverage. Students are responsible for obtaining their own personal health care coverage.

Campus Safety

Portage College provides security at the Lac La Biche campus. Staff are available to assist students should the need arise, and phones with direct lines to Campus Security are located at a variety of locations on campus.

Counselling Services

Our goal is to support Portage College students in their success.

Fitness and Recreation

We offer free fitness classes and gym facilities, and recreation to College students. The Fitness & Recreation staff is committed to providing quality instruction and programs to help students meet their personal challenges.

Portage College Students' Association

The Portage College Students' Association (SA) is an important part of your time here at the College. The SA advocates for and represents you as a student.

Childcare Services

It is the responsibility of students to arrange childcare or enroll school age children in an appropriate facility.
