Portage welcomes two new public members

Portage College would like to welcome two new public members to the Board of Governors (BOG) of Portage College. Donna Webster and Parrish Tung.

The recruitment plan and selection guide for these positions is controlled by Advanced Education with recommendations provided by the BOG of Portage College. Screening of applications is done to meet criteria followed by interviews by Advanced Education. The Minister of Advanced Education then makes recommendations to the Province of Alberta Lieutenant Governor or Administrator on appointing those members.  

Portage College welcomes the two successful candidates:  

Donna Webster has a strong background in the human services field and has gained extensive practical experience in working with children, youth and their families.  As a Métis woman and as a long-time resident of Lac La Biche, she has become familiar with the economic development and impacts on the social services areas.  

"I now want to challenge my abilities and apply these enhanced skills to a Board of Governor's position." Said Webster on her appointment.  

Parrish Tung, has been living in this region since 1997.  He has been an educator and administrator for 33 years before he retired. He's been involved with the community in several ways, from coaching, officiating various sports, and community volunteering.

"I feel it is the right thing to do to serve and give back to my community by serving on the Board of Governors." Said Tung on his appointment.  

Each member will serve a term to expire June 10, 2020.
