Portage College is pleased to announce Canadian Natural Resources Limited has signed as a sponsor for several of the College's 50th Anniversary events. Canadian Natural has donated a total of $41,125 to support two Better Together Dinners and all the 50th Anniversary Community BBQs.
With the help of Canadian Natural, Portage is hosting free barbecues throughout the region, from May thru September, to celebrate community partnerships over the last 50 years with the First Nations, Metis Settlements and other partnering communities.
Community BBQs will be held at: Beaver Lake Cree Nation, Boyle, Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, Cold Lake First Nations, Conklin, Elizabeth Metis Settlement, Fishing Lake Metis Settlement, Frog Lake First Nation, Goodfish Lake First Nation #128, Heart Lake First Nation, Kehewin Cree Nation, Kikino Metis Settlement, and Saddle Lake Cree Nation.

Portage College is hosting two Better Together Dinners this year. The original Better Together in 2014 was about the community coming together to support an individual who had been the victim of a violent crime. By asking people to come together and sit with someone they didn't know to share a meal was about building community awareness and community empathy. The event was not focusing on the negative, but on celebrating friendship and community.
"In offering Canadian Natural an opportunity to partner with us, the premise is no longer focusing on restitution, assisting victims of crime or those suffering from serious illness," said Dr. Trent Keough, President & CEO of Portage College, "It's really about celebrating community and asking people to come out, sit, share a meal and get to know someone new."
February is a difficult time for students after the holiday spending and the Better Together Dinner is a meal to support students and draw revenue for the Portage College Food Bank. The meal is available to the public for $10 a plate, $12 take-out, $5 for children 12 years and under and we'll be subsidizing the meal for Portage College students.

Tickets are required for entry and are available until January 28 at: Portage College Lac La Biche Bookstore, Student Services and Britton's Your Independent Grocer
Cost: $5 for Children 12 and Under
$10 for Dine In
$12 for Take-Out (Pick up: 4-7 PM)
Free for Portage College Students
Donations will be accepted to go towards the Portage College Food Bank. Please feel free to bring nonperishable food items to the event.
