College and County Golf Fore Health Tournament a Success
The co-hosted Better Together Golf Fore Health Tournament, which happened on July 14, 2016, was the first of its kind for both Portage College and Lac La Biche County. The nice weather catered to 75 enthusiastic golfers as the tournament net upwards of $6,000. The College and County are working together to increase awareness of healthcare needs and advance healthcare education in the region.
"I was pleased at the turnout to this year's tournament," says Omer Moghrabi, Mayor of Lac La Biche County. "The day brought the County, College, and community together for a great cause, and I look forward to seeing how healthcare in the Lac La Biche region will expand and improve through our collective efforts."
Portage College is looking to expand and grow its Practical Nurse and Emergency Medical Technician programming at the Lac La Biche campus. Because quality education leads to quality healthcare, the College wants to make sure its graduates in Lac La Biche stay at the top of the class.
"It was a great day to golf for health and wellness," says Dr. Trent Keough, President & CEO of Portage College. "Public awareness is critical to increasing healthcare philanthropy. We look forward to investing in our future health care professionals by providing our students with state-of-the-art equipment. Thank you to all that helped contribute to this great cause."
Congratulations to tournament champions!
