Kotchorek and Gerein Recruited
May 22, 2018

Portage College is happy to announce that both Taryn Kotchorek and Troy Gerein have committed to the Voyageurs Men's Hockey team. Both bring a wealth of experience from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), having won the league championship in the 2016/2017 season with the Battlefords North Stars.

Kotchorek is a competitive goalie that practices hard. He holds the SJHL shutout record with 13 shutout games and has a junior career winning percentage over 0.700. "We believe he will play a big part moving forward for the Portage College Voyageurs next season." Said Nate Bedford, Head Coach of Portage College Voyageurs Men's Hockey.

Gerein is a gritty in your face player that has the ability to do just about anything. He plays both defence and forward, and is great on the power play.

"Gerein is a guy that I became close with when I coached him on the Battlefords team and he's one of the most fearless shot blockers I've been around." Said Bedford.

These two players are both highly respectful individuals that have the exact character Portage College Voyageurs are looking for in the program.
