The food bank for students at Portage College and the Waskaysoo Food Bank in Lac La Biche will be a little better stocked this Christmas season, owing to a cash donation of $2300 to each.
On Monday, December 13, Dr. Trent Keough (centre) of Portage College made the presentation of funds to both organizations, just in time for Christmas. The money was raised through net proceeds from the sold out Canadian Country Christmas concert, held December 3 at the McGrane Theatre at the College. For $20 a ticket, concert goers were treated to music and a good dose of Christmas spirit from a line-up of Canadian country stars, including artists Duane Steele, Jamie Warren, Samantha King and Sean Hogan.
Partnering with the College to put on the concert and consequently raise the funds were local businesses The Lac La Biche Post, Big Dog Radio and the Ramada Inn. The Lac La Biche Ag Society was also a significant partner in raising the funds.
