The Board of Governors of Portage College is very pleased to announce that its recruitmentprocess for a new President is now complete.
After a thorough interview process it was clear that Dr. Trent Keough - current Vice President,Academic, was the best person for the job.
The Board is excited by the enthusiasm Dr. Keough demonstrated for the Board of Governors'Vision for the College. Dr. Keough has a proven track record of moving Portage College to be thefirst choice in our service region and has brought significant innovative teaching and learningtechniques to Portage College since joining as Vice President in 2006. This innovation and focuson quality learning for students will truly help the College meet its goal of being a model for ruraleducation. As well as his leadership at Portage College, a major strength in Dr. Keough's favouris his high level of familiarity and proven results within the Alberta post secondary system.
Dr. Keough holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Queen's University, an M.A. in English, and aB.A. in Political Science and English from Memorial University. Dr. Keough is also a KelloggFoundation Fellow (USA) and a graduate of the National Executive Leadership Institute(Canada).
Dr. Keough has also built many meaningful relationships with College partners, school boardsand industry within our region. As well, Dr. Keough has established relationships with leaderswithin Portage College's communities.
In summary the culmination of his work at Portage College truly supports the College's strategicaims of "Growth, Excellence, and Inclusion."
Dr. Keough will be transitioning into the position of president with current Portage President, BillPersley, who is retiring later this year.
