This five-week program was designed with input from the construction industry. The first four weeks include
classroom and lab training, with the fifth week being a supervised work placement. A prime focus of the program is to prepare entry-level workers to carry out varying duties with a safety focus as both a personal practice and an industry requirement. It also provides both legislative and procedural safety training to students. The program will enhance employability through qualified instruction and industry recognized training, including some job specific training that will result in certification. The program provides numerous safety certifications demanded by the industry. Students will benefit from lasting safety consciousness, knowledge, and habits which will enhance their ability to obtain and maintain employment. Students will be exposed to many construction trades. Companies will present opportunities for apprenticeship to workers who demonstrate commitment and aptitude.
