Aboriginal Teacher Education Program (ATEP) Degree from the University of Alberta

Students from across northern Alberta will benefit from a partnership between Portage College and the Aboriginal Teacher Education Program at the University of Alberta in the fall of 2022. The ATEP curriculum and teaching have a strong focus on Aboriginal histories, worldview, perspectives and culture, alongside the rigor of the requirements of an Elementary Education Degree. This prepares teachers to take up the Alberta Teaching Quality Standards (TQS) in their classrooms creating a foundation to benefit all students in every classroom.

Students interested in gaining a top-notch Education Degree in ATEP are encouraged to register with Portage College to earn their prerequisite 60 credits in the University Transfer program.
