Métis Week Celebration

Join us on Facebook live for the proclamation and flag raising on November 12 at 10:55 am.

Métis Nation of Alberta Zone One, President James Cardinal and President of Zone Two  Duane Zaraska along with Mayor Moghrabi of Lac La Biche county and Nancy Broadbent, President and CEO of Portage College will gather at the main entrance of the Lac La Biche campus for the proclamation and to proudly raise the Metis flag.

Covid-19 Restrictions means that we cannot get together right now in person, but that doesn’t mean we cannot still learn, and celebrate together.

Best wishes from Dr. Jane Ash Poitras, CM, RCA
Recipient of Order of Canada

The Metis tradition of hunting trapping and fishing is a way of life that is still a big part of the Lavallee family and Kenny and Diane Lavallee have passed down this life to their children and grandchildren just the same way it was passed down to Kenny from his father and mother.

We are located on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaties 6 and 8, which are also homelands to Métis people.
