SuperHost® is a suite of quality, affordable customer service training courses for front-line employees.

Portage College is excited to deliver SuperHost® training courses, including the online courses Foundations of Service Quality and Service for All™, as well as the in-person Community Host course at our campuses in Lac La Biche and St. Paul.

Enhance Your Team's Skills Through Funded Training

If you are an employer you will be able to apply for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant for your present or future employees who have completed 21 hours of training. The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is a training program where you apply on behalf of your present or future employees for eligible training costs. You decide who gets training and what type of training may be needed for your employees.

Portage College Micro-Credentials

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant offers funding to employers who have present or future employees
who have completed 21 hours of training. (One online badge course is 6 hrs.).

Portage College is offering nine, 6 hour long business micro-credential badge courses that compliment SuperHost® training. By combining the three SuperHost training courses and one Portage College business micro-credential badge course, your employee will have over 21 hours of training, making your business eligible for the Canada-Alberta Job Grant. You can select which badge you would like to complement your SuperHost® training with.

Foundations of Service Quality™

Length: 6 hours - Online Delivery - Certificate

SuperHost® Foundations of Service Quality is a comprehensive online course available through Portage College, delivering practical training in providing quality service. Designed for individuals in customer-facing roles, including new or returning workers, it covers essential customer service skills, communication, teamwork, and service recovery techniques.

Foundations of Inclusive Service™

Length: 8 hours - Online Delivery - Certificate

Service For All™ is an online course that emphases the importance of inclusive customer service to meet the diverse needs of visitors and locals. Topics covered:

Empathy & Sensitivity, Diversity Awareness, Recognizing specialized customer groups, Delivering personalized service and Ways to tailor service for customers from varying ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds.

Community Host

In Person Delivery

Portage College offers the Community Host program, an in person training course designed to build customer confidence and create remarkable visitor experiences in your community.

Participants, including local businesses, employers, and volunteers, will learn valuable skills such as making a great first impression, implementing consistent community health and safety practices, understanding the importance of tourism for the local community, identifying visitor profiles and motivations, and effectively promoting local products and services.
