11:00 a.m. - Métis Flag Raising Ceremony

Elders Diane Ludwig and Harry Hope along with Métis and College leadership will raise the Métis Flag at the main entrance to Portage College.

The flag of the Métis Nation displays a white infinity sign on a blue background. The symbol represents the mixing of two distinct cultures, European and First Nations. The infinity symbol signifies that the Métis people will exist forever.

We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
