Vehicle Crashes into St. Paul Campus
March 21, 2014

An automobile struck the wall of Portage College's St. Paul campus early this morning causing damage to the building. No serious injuries have been reported. Police were called and the driver was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.

"We're very relieved that no one was seriously injured in this incident," said Dr. Trent Keough, President and CEO of Portage College. "We appreciate the quick response and support from our St. Paul staff."

The St. Paul campus was immediately closed to deal with the incident. Classes have been cancelled today, and students and non-essential staff were sent home. The College expects the campus to re-open on Monday morning.

"We felt that it would be in the best interest of our staff and students to close the campus while investigators conduct their work on the scene," Keough said.

We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
