You will learn top culinary skills from the best in the food service industry! All instructors are Red Seal Chefs, which is a universally recognized and highly prestigious certification.

Our hospitality programs are designed to ensure students graduate with the knowledge, skills and experience to immediately begin working in everything from restaurants and hotels to catering companies - even work camps. Instruction is divided between theory in the classroom and hands-on experience in a fully operational commercial kitchen.

The Alberta Government has announced that post-secondary colleges and universities will be returning to face-to-face delivery where possible for September 2021. Based on this announcement, the Hospitality Program is planning for face-to-face and online delivery for this fall. Portage College will continue to monitor the pandemic situation in the months leading up to September and make further announcements and adjustments to program delivery depending on Alberta Health Service orders.

Pre-Employment Cooking

The Pre-Employment Cooking certificate program provides students with the knowledge, skills and professional attitude required to give them that extra edge needed to work in the exciting and dynamic food service industry.


Professional Cooking Certificate

The Professional Cooking Certificate is in partnership with Northern Lakes College. This give students the opportunity to complete the certificate program in St. Paul and High Prairie with instructors from Portage College.


Culinary Arts Diploma

The Culinary Arts Diploma provides students with all the specialized skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the exciting and fast-paced food service industry.
