ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College is actively seeking a highly-motivated and engaged individual with experience to instruct in our Indigenous Arts and Culture program at the Lac La Biche campus. The successful instructor would be responsible for practicing excel­lence in teaching and learning.
Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Theory and practical instruction in the College’s Indigenous Arts and Culture program.
  • Preparation and delivery of subjects in both lectures and practical labs.
  • Assist with curriculum development and/or revision.
  • Develop exams, quizzes and other evaluation material for students.
  • Manage and evaluate student progress in the program.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Native Arts Instructor Certificate or Artisan Entrepreneurship Diploma.
  • The ideal applicant will have a minimum of five years’ experience instructing adult learners.
  • Expert knowledge in traditional Indigenous art methods including: beading, sewing, quilling and tufting.
  • Expert knowledge in Indigenous protocols and practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with MS Office.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current police information check.
