ABOUT THE POSITION

Portage College is actively seeking a knowledgeable and student-focused instructor to support learners in the fourth badge course – Capstone: Application and Feedback – as part of the Jordan’s Principle micro-credential program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide students with guidance and timely support related to the Jordan’s Principle program.
  • Reviewing and delivering comprehensive, constructive feedback on capstone projects. These projects include:
    • Completing two scenario-based Jordan’s Principle requests for individuals.
    • Participating in and contributing to an online learning forum discussion.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in online teaching and student support.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Jordan’s Principle program and related legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience applying for Jordan’s Principle funding for First Nations children.
  • Understanding of service gaps affecting First Nations children and families in areas such as health, cultural, and social needs.
  • Experience addressing Jordan’s Principle funding appeals.
  • Background working with First Nations children, families, and government service providers.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a current vulnerable sector criminal record check.
