Friends of Portage College

In 2017, the President’s Indigenous Advisory Committee was formed. This group was formed to amplify the voices of Indigenous partners and celebrate the gifts their ways of knowing and culture bring to Portage College.

The committee created a plan titled “Our Voyage of Togetherness” to advocate for partnering with Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers, communities, industries, and agencies. We're very fortunate for this support.

Learn about the various community partners in the Portage College service region:

Beaver Lake Cree Nation
Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement
Cold Lake First Nations
Elizabeth Metis Settlement
Fishing Lake Metis Settlement
Frog Lake First Nation
Heart Lake First Nation
Kehewin Cree Nation
Kikino Metis Settlement
Saddle Lake Cree Nation
Whitefish/Goodfish Lake First Nation

We acknowledge that Portage College’s service region is on the traditional lands of First Nation Peoples, the owners of Treaty 6, 8 and 10, which are also homelands to the Métis people. We honour the history and culture of all people who first lived and gathered in these lands.
