The CMA Accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program will now be offered exclusively using Portage's blended learning format. Portage College has been delivering the EMT Program for over 20 years. Featuring the same relevant curriculum as the traditional on-campus program, while allowing students to learn on their own schedule - anywhere they can connect to the internet.
Blended learning is a combination of learning modalities involving onsite lab instruction, web-based learning delivery, as well as clinical and ambulance placements. The EMT program has been carefully designed using a customized instructional strategy that promotes the strengths of each delivery component.
"The blended delivery model is more flexible and appears to fit better into students' busy schedules. Many students struggle with accommodation costs, travel expenses, child care, and family commitments when having to relocate for a face to face program. Blended learning allows us to address those obstacles while improving access to quality programs" says Carol Ulliac, Dean of Health & Wellness at Portage College.
Portage College is currently taking applications for fall and winter intakes. Contact Student Advisor, Deni Gillis (denise.gillis@portagecollege.ca) or Program Coordinator, Shelley Franchuk (shelley.franchuk@portagecollege.ca) for more information or to confirm your interest.
