Oktoberfest Cancelled

College to host another Kids Spring Fling Carnival in April 2019 instead

With great regret, Portage College announced today that we are cancelling the Oktoberfest event scheduled for October 20th in Cold Lake due to a lack of interest. With other events scheduled in the region in the next few weeks and slow ticket sales, the College has decided to pull the plug on the event and focus on other Cold Lake activities happening in the community instead.

"We are sorry to have to make this difficult decision but we wish the other events in the region all the best in the coming weeks," said Nancy Broadbent, Interim President and CEO of Portage College. "We are grateful to the good people of the Cold Lake region for all of your support during the past year and for helping us to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2018."

Anyone who purchased tickets for Oktoberfest will receive a refund. If you purchased through Ticketmaster, all internet and phone orders will automatically be cancelled & refunded. If you purchased in person, return your ticket to the Cold Lake campus for refund.

Although the College had to cancel this event, Broadbent was quick to add that this does not mean that Portage will shy away from organizing future events in the city. In fact, she was happy to share some good news with Cold Lake area residents.

"We were so excited with the overwhelming response to our Kids Spring Fling Carnival on May 4 of this year that we are pleased to announce that we are bringing back the free, family-friendly event once again next year," said Broadbent.

The College will host the 2nd annual Kids Spring Fling Carnival on April 26, 2019 at the Energy Centre and plans to make it an annual event going forward. More details about the event will be shared in the coming months.

"Keep your eyes peeled!" said Broadbent. "We're looking forward to seeing you once again!"
