As part of our commitment to teaching Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Portage College is hosting its 20th annual Round Dance. This year the format of the round dance has changed to an educational format, designed to allow participants to learn about the cultural significance of the round dance.

This interactive opportunity will allow participants to learn and experience various components of the round dance such as:

• the lighting of the traditional pipe, pipe ceremony
• the feast
• smudging
• different styles of songs and dances
• giveaways

After participating in this Round Dance, participants will have the knowledge of what a traditional Round Dance is comprised of and its importance to Indigenous culture.
